Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Design, construct and use MS Excel spreadsheets that will provide information to support decision making and problem solving in a business environment.
2. Format workbook text and data and correctly use number formats, cell styles and conditional formatting
3. Translate equations into Excel formulas, understand function syntax and change cell references between relative and absolute
4. Effectively use the following functions: SUM, MIN, MAX, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, TODAY, ROUND, IF, AND, OR, VLOOKUP, PV, FV, PMT.
5. Perform what-if analysis using trial and error and goal seek
6. Analyze and chart data using a variety of chart types
7. Utilize Excel tables to manage large amounts of data
8. Manage multiple worksheets and workbooks
9. Apply basic design and layout principles to produce professional presentation aids, incorporating text, graphics, and transitions
10. With a team, formulate, organize and deliver a professional, informative presentation to a specified audience in a pre-determined period of time.
11. Work effectively as a team member by demonstrating reliability, effective communications, and attention to all assigned deadlines.
12. Prepare and present an effective oral presentation using PowerPoint slides as a visual aid.
13. Prepare a formal business report using MS Word
14. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team
15. Use e-mail on a regular basis, and send spreadsheets and word-processed documents as email attachments.
16. Demonstrate the ability to submit assignments on time.
