.....
Introduction ...
Material for this unit originally (Feb 2014) came from Brett Payne, a student who took CCT224, CCT322 and MGD415 at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus (2012-2014)

When i (WTGR) was talking in class one day about the (sometimes) very lucrative field of Personal Selling in I.T. products and services, Brett mentioned he has a family member who does exactly that. I asked Brett if he could speak to that person and write out some "teachable points" and what follows comes from that circumstance.

This unit is taught in concert with the topic Personal Selling. Over the years, I have made a point of explaining that Personal Selling in I.T. products can be highly renumerative, and a simple example I frequently used was as follows.

Person working in a consumer electronic products store sells one large flat screen TV for $500 and gets 10 percent commission - 50 dollars

Person working in the head office of an Asian consumer electronic products conglomerate (ie SONY or Samsung) and works hard to get the account to sell 3 to 4 flat screen monitors to Tim Hortons for upgrading their in-store advertising across Canada, Timmies has more than 3,000 outlets
3,000 x 3 x (say wholesale price of $300) = conservatively 2.7 million dollars
- if you received 10 percent commission on 2.7 m that would be $270,000 just for that one situation.
