Looking at these failures can help us have an understanding which will allow us to hopefully avode these circumstances.

. This chpt is helpful to read, although some of the information is dated because the book was written a year and a half ago - some technologies may not exist, or may be under other "brand names"

Card holders fear security abuse by
- merchants
- third party entities such as independent call centre
- hackers 

Merchant Accounts - page 94
- more and  more difficult to obtain due to bad history of small business defaulting and customers calling for chargebacks - many problems related to adult online services

Online Credit Card Fraud - page 96
- chargebacks- the cost is borne by the merchant so they increasingly dislike to let people pay by credit cards in case they get stuck

Digital Currency - page 97
Many systems developing, not too many well known with market dominance

eWallets - page 98

Smart Cards -page 101
This system already known to the public through phone and rail cards that use this technology

Micropayments - page 102
Necessary in the case of billing for "click throughs" which would be very very small amounts and include fractions of a cent

eBilling - page 108
Because of an oligopoly, Canadian banks are much more advanced in this area than American banks
