http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7e9WSnC0Tk WTGR made a short video with some tips about using "mature language" when you are composing the sentances in written assignments.

It is well worth viewing.

For this project you will
Using a real example of a Canadian company
discuss the several different strategies and ways/modes of exporting in the context of a real life scenario

Also, importantly, provide your comments/analysis, on what you think, of how well the company did on some of these strategies.
In providing your comments/analysis, use any other “tools” you may have learned in the course about things a company does, or needs to know, to do business internationally.

20% - in class group Presentation
You will make a presentation to the class in the final class of the course
- each group will be allocated about 10-15 minutes

20% - Written Report
Judged on how you can coordinate various bits of information

You need to appreciate the consequences of a Competitive Environment and the challenges of getting your message across succinctly, yet completely without gaps.
It is expected that this project will have all the formatting, appearances, quality and structure of a typical 3rd year UofT final project for an undergrad course.

FINAL

PROJECT

What you are trying to achieve

I have been teaching you about management circumstances of international business.

The best way you can convince me you learned some stuff useful and interesting" is to demonstrate how you could look at a company (mid-term, FDI;  final exam, exporting) involved in FDI and exporting and understand what it is they need to do to be successful.

In the "real world" of the students who finish C44, and actually work in int'l business, many report back that a fundamental skill is to "find stuff out" about how or why a company does things - then use that information to make a decision about something.

o You are trying to impress me with your analytical ability - your ability to look at an international business situation and bring in many of the things we talked about in this course
o You will probably know more about the company than can be fitted into a 20 or 30 page report - so you are going to have to make a decision about what information to include, and what does not count - and write in a concise, well structured way
o You are trying to impress me with your originality and work ethic by doing a good job and showing the depth to which you research a company

if you are not sure what it means to analyse something, trying looking at documents like this on Prof. Kinney's site
